Why we chose it

A page you normally encounter as finished text becomes activity: additions, removals and arrivals, each given a visual or musical trace. The piece lets you attend to editing without following a single article from beginning to end. Each tone is a designer's stand-in for an edit. You can hear people at work all over the encyclopedia and still have no idea whether a single edit is any good.

What it may shift The continuing labor behind a page that looks finished.

What did the stream make perceptible, and what could it not tell you? An edit’s size or sound does not establish its accuracy, usefulness, or importance.
